Excellence every day is the standard for teaching and learning in Berrien County Schools. Providing quality work that is challenging is the primary focus of all instructional programs in Berrien County Schools. The purpose of the Berrien County School System's Pre-Kindergarten - 12 curriculum is to ensure that all students have access to the same content at a specific grade level, from teacher to teacher and that the content is engaging. If you have any questions regarding the PK - 5 Curriculum, the instructional programs offered at this level, and professional learning opportunities, and the state testing program. please contact me at the Berrien Board of Education.

Georgia Curriculum Standards

Berrien County Schools use the Georgia Standards of Excellence as the foundation for instruction in all K-12 classrooms. The GSE reflect current educational research and provide clear expectations for instruction, assessment, and student work. They define the level of work that demonstrates achievement of the standards, enabling a teacher to know “how good is good enough.” The performance standards isolate and identify the skills needed to use the knowledge and skills to problem-solve, reason, communicate, and make connections with other information. They also tell the teacher how to assess the extent to which the student knows the material or can manipulate and apply the information.

Georgiastandards.org, as part of the Georgia Department of Education, is committed to improving student achievement. Whether you are an educator or a parent, we hope you will find this site to be a valuable source of information and help with your student’s education process. The goal of this web site is to provide information that will enhance and support teaching and learning of Georgia standards. All standards and resources are available in printable document formats. Included are hundreds of videos demonstrating best practices for the classroom. From the public web site, parents have quick access to background information about Georgia standards, why they were created, and how they are being implemented. Additionally, parents may browse the standards and suggested frameworks that may be utilized by the individual curriculum areas.
